Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (Amendment 8 )

Regulations amending the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (Amendment 8 ) have been published in the November 9, 2011 Canada Gazette Part II, Vol. 145, No. 23 as SOR/2011-239. Amendment 8 includes the following:
In subsection 1.15(1), a clarification of the conditions which must be met when a purchaser, a user or a retailer use the 150 kg exemption.
Section 7.1. deals with the requirements for an Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP). This section has been re‑organized and some new provisions have been added to the regulatory text.
Editorial changes were made to Schedules 1, 2 and 3.
Public consultation for workplace mental health standard underway

In 2012 Canadian employers will have increased support for improving the psychological health and safety of their employees with the development of a National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.
As the leading cause of short and long term disability in Canadian workplaces, psychological health and safety impacts in Canada are substantial.
However, in 2012 Canadian employers will have increased support for improving the psychological health and safety of their employees with the development of a National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. All Canadians are welcome to participate in a 60‐day public consultation that began November 1, 2011.
Once completed, the voluntary national standardwill provide organizations with the tools to achieve measurable improvementin psychological health and safety for Canadian employees.
Championed by The Mental Health Commission of Canada, this standard is being developed collaboratively with the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The funding for this project has been provided by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada and Bell.
The completed voluntary National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2012.
