Speaker: Terry Becker, P.Eng., C.E.M – CEO Senior Management Consultant with Electrical Safety Program Solutions Inc.
Topic: Evolution of Workplace Electrical Safety – Results of Audit
Topic Summary: A brief overview of the status of the CSA Z462 Workplace electrical safety Standard and its application in industry to date will be highlighted with results from Electrical Safety Audits performed. Specific emphasis will be provided on the pitfalls related to the procurement and application of Electrical Specific PPE, Tools & Equipment.
Speaker Profile: Terry Becker, P.Eng. is an Electrical Engineer with over 19 years experience in both operating companies (e.g. Exxon-Mobil, PanCanadian Energy, and EnCana Corporation) and engineering consulting (e.g. DPH Engineering Ltd., ESPS Electrical Safety Program Solutions INC.). Responsibilities have included, power, controls, distributed generation, SCADA, utility contract management, electrical energy management, Canadian Electrical Code compliance management, electrical business risk management, and workplace electrical safety. Terry was the Electrical Quality Management Plan (EQMP) Manager for the Foothills/Midstream & Marketing Divisions and the Electrical Safety Program Manager for EnCana Corporation, before leaving EnCana in 2007 to create and lead ESPS Electrical Safety Program Solutions INC. ESPS is an independent electrical safety consulting services and product development company, focusing on Electrical Safety Auditing, Electrical Safety Program development and support, and Workplace Electrical Safety training.
Terry was Chair of the Alberta Arc Flash Committee in 2005, is the first past Vice-Chair of the CSA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety Technical Committee, and currently an Executive Member, and Voting Member and Annexes Working Group Leader. Terry is also a member of the NFPA 70E Technical Committee Annexes Working Group. Terry is also a member of CSA, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, CSSE, and PMI.
Terry has presented at numerous Canadian Standards Association (CSA), IEEE and industry conferences or workshops on electrical safety. Terry has also presented on CSA Z462 and electrical safety in Melbourne, Australia in April 2010 at an industry Arc Flash Forum organized by IDC.
Terry is a Professional Engineer in the Provinces of British Columbia,, Alberta, and Ontario, and is currently the Owner, CEO, and a Senior Management Consultant for ESPS Electrical Safety Program Solutions INC. www.esps.ca.

Pre-registration and payment is required! Guests and members attending without pre-registration prior to midnight on September 9, 2010, will pay an additional $10.00 over the registration fee. which will be $40.00 for members and $45.00 for non-members. If you are unable to register by the early bird cut off, we would still like you to register prior to Monday morning to allow the Hotel Catering enough time to prepare for us. An accurate count of those attending allows the hotel to assign the most appropriate sized room and ensures that there will be enough lunch for everyone.
Cancellation Policy: Notice must be given to us before the midnight cut-off on the Thursday before the meeting, otherwise the payment will not be credited. If proper notice is given before the cut-off time, a credit will be given for the following month’s meeting only and confirmation must be given to attendance so that we can account for you at that meeting. - -
